In July of 2009 I flew to the Pat Tillman Foundation in Tempe, Arizona as part of a three person committee which allocated over $600,000 dollars to veterans and their dependents. The recipients exemplified Pat's leadership through action in past service and future plans to promote positive change in their communities.  The funds they received in Pat's name will pay for their continued education. 

It was one of the greatest and most humbling honors to help decide who received these limited funds. Unfortunately there are many returning veterans who simply do not have the resources to pay for education, whether it be their Bachelors, Masters or Ph.d.. This is why I am renewing my commitment to the 3.6 million dollars I initially set out to raise when I began my walk in September of 2008, by returning full time to public speaking.  

Along my journey I spoke to universities, high schools, elementary schools, athletic teams, juvenile detention facilities,  adult prisons, NFL Alumni groups, corporations, and award banquets. I spoke and will continue to speak about the people I met, the challenges I faced and the lessons I learned during my eight month 3,100 mile walk across the United States.   I will also touch on my conversations with Pat.
